Mama's Day (Part Deux)

Outside the Lucketts Store are a bunch of tiny sheds that house even more goodies. Lots of old sinks, bathtubs, shutters, window panes, tables, chairs, ladders...
-
-
-
Some of the sheds had makeshift curtains blowing in the breeze...
-
-
Give me that teal dresser, thank you!
-
-
Glass-topped garden table, scrumdiddliumptious!
-
-
-
They were selling these old feed scoops for $38 which is some bullshit because we have tons and tons of these nasty things in our barn... and the old velvet riding helmets. Sitting on a GD goldmine.
-
-
This. Was. Epic. A MOSAIC WALL!!!!! It led all the way to the upstairs with stairs that looked like....
-
-
...this!!! Flower wallpapered stairs! Mosaic wall! Whoo-wee shut my mouth, smack your grandma...
-
-
More shabs heaven.
-
-
Chandeliers EVERYWHERE
-
-
Ok, so after we survived/died of happiness at the Lucketts Store, we drove down the road to one last stop, a junky junk shop called My Wits End. It was pretty cool, not my style, but whatevs.
-
-
In the upstairs of this building the ceilings were probs 6.5 feet tall, mega tiny BUT the floors were painted this awesome diamond shape that my mom swears she's going to recreate in her nasty country kitchen. We'll see if she pulls it off (obvi she will, and it will look way better than this).
-
Um, ok, so I didn't mind this chair. Meowww.
-
-
Or this one GREEN LEATHER OWCHEEEMAMA
-
-
Ok, ok, so we left Lucketts and didn't even spend a penny. Amazing? No. Cheap? Obvi. So we hightailed it back down 15 to downtown Leesburg and headed over to one of my roomies fav stores, Four Shabby Chicks.
-
-
This store is way cute in some areas, way antiquey in others, and has a lot of other shit that's expensive and smells like old ladies. BUT, it's always fun to snoop through, especially their large collection of awesome maps and old Harper's Bazaar covers and ancient textbook pages that are framed and looking fly.
-
On the same strip we went into a super adorbs place, the cottage, that had more Frenchy-type stuff that I loved and my mom poo-poohed. But, it had a really jolly owner who had a sweet accent, so it got my official stamp of awesomeness approval.

BREAKING NEWS: This is for my one and only faithful follower, the hot mess Julianne who is currently (I hope) gallivanting through Australia, spooning with koalas and frolicking with the kangaroos. Dude, saw this matchbox and would have totally gotten it for you duh, but it was like $45 for a box of matches and I do love you but bitch, please. Isn't it cute?! Cupcakes! Coffee! Get it?! okbye.
-
-
All in all, it was an amazing day spent with my favorite person, the one and only beautiful, crafty, creative, hilarious, weird, goofy, motherly, junky, shabby--my mom! Loves ya!
-

-
"Don't laugh at me--I taught you everything you know!!"

Word to Yo Mutha (Part 1)

Yesterday I spent an early Mother's Day with my badass mama. We went to Lucketts, Virginia, and Historic Downtown Leesburg to check out all the awesome shabby chic antiquey junk stores.

First stop, On a Whim Home Boutique. Right off Route 15... look for the huge pink silo.

-
-
Polka dots and painted bed frames. Yes please.
-
-

Old dresses, bird cages, crafts, handmade soaps, perfumes, yummm.
-
Mom in her element
-
-
Everyone needs an iron rooster/pig in the back yard.
-
-
-
Next stop, the Luckett's Store.
-
-
-
Examining the treasures.
-
-
Obsessed with this porch and the painted blue ceiling and the flowy canvas curtains and the colorful furniture and the never-ending chandeliers.
-
-
-
The bison head's for sale for the great price of $2500!!! Jump on that.
-
-
-
This ceiling was so cool. Painted blue clouds...
-
-
I Must Have Flowers Always.
-
-
-
-
I'm pretty sure the ceiling in this room had a giant hole/damage so some crafty person took huge pieces of canvas(?) and billowed them together to create this. Niiice, I approve. Also, love the blue vase and flowers. So sweet.
-
-
-
Right next door... the uber-femme Beekeeper's Cottage.
-
-
-
-
SO much pinks, creams, frills, sparkles, love love love all around.
-
-
-
Plenty more pics to come... stay tuned, mofos.

Boondocks Reunion, Commence!

"The sky was peach and gold, a teacup of a morning, just enough clouds so as not to mock us. Why isn't there a dawnish equivalent for the word dusky? That's what the light was, beautiful and dawnish. We found a spit created by the receding tide. A spit curl, really: it spiraled around. We walked to the end of it. Edward had already removed the screw that kept the wooden urn shut. He took off the lid. The ashes were in a small white container like a film canister. We opened it, and then we cast the ashes upon the water, hoping they would... what? He wouldn't return to us, but we hoped someone would. It was tremendously comforting. Fingertip after fingertip, we let him fly."

What I'm Craving at 4:00 Today.

Hello, lover.
-

Break Me Off a Piece of That

Dreamsicle Kitchen. Things I'm loving: pink mixer, pink fridge, blue cupboard at the end of the room, pink stove, blue cabinet faces, striped overstuffed chairs...
-

-
Check out the mermaid picture. Nice! But, the sea foam chandelier and corner cupboard are the best. Ok, and the table cloth (and maybe the mirror...).
-

-
Although I'm attempting to have mismatched plates/bowls, I do love the turquoise/green combo. Dangit!! Oh well, guess that means multiple kitchens for this girl! Pity...
-

-
Something about the lady in this pic is highly irritating to me. Like, you just know that she's all, "La la la yeah my house is all white and perfect but I'm not stuffy, no sirree, just sooo laid back and don't care about dirt and I just want my guests to be cozy and comfortable" but really she's probably "TAKE YOUR GD SHOES OFF AT THE DOOR BITCH THESE FLOORS COST THOUSANDS AND DON'T EVEN THINK OF LEAVING YOUR GRUBBY FINGERPRINTS ON MY MARBLE COUNTERTOPS AND CAREFUL ON THE LEATHER OR I WILL SERIOUSLY SHIT A BRICK!"

Just sayin.

But anyway, I am digging the nooks and crannies up in this joint. Black framed pics? Check. Little green glass juicer that you thought I wouldn't notice? Check. Yellow blender (probs filled with Mai Tai)? Check. Turquoise bowls? Check and check.

-
Moving on. This bed is screaming for me to roll alll over/spend every Sunday morning with the
Times (who am I kidding, Martha Stewart mag, teehee) and some coffee and a hot young thang next to me. You know who you are. Yellow lamps, meowwww

More to come later, just you wait.
