My Weekend through Food

It all started on Friday afternoon.

Happy hour on the balcony: pony Coronas and icy Jomos
Then, on to Bang: mango red-pepper martinis and kale tortellini and miniature crab cakes.
Woke up: omelets and honey lattes.

Washed it down with: gatorade and a little mud.

Recovered with: a gigantic dinner thanks to mama Suzanne and company.
Celebrated our Warrior-dom by: watching a little Matilda and sipping some of these:

This morning, nommed on: Bodos and and Cafecitos at Hot Cakes.

Topped it off with: Pomegranate Rice Cakes (mmm...?) and some Humpback Rocks.

Another great weekend gone sooo fassstttt. T-20 minutes until Abita (aka Party Cat aka Satan) is on the move again. Sharpening my slicing knives as we speak....

Oh Copper...

I'm getting really good at stretching out these weekends, and I think I've found the key: never go to sleep. Go out on Friday night and dance dance dance until it's 4am and crash at a downtown apartment with some fools and an automatic skittles machine. Brilliant!

Friday Night: Rage in Dupont (check it off the list)!
Flew home from work, changed into my boots (boot season is finally upon us), smoothed on the red lips, and headed downtown to meet up with B-rad and Wheels. Did a little pregame, sipped some Abita Purple Haze (oh! my favorite!), attempted to power hour, then walked two feet down the street to bars and dancing and clubs oh my! Either there was something in the water this night or we found the water hole for delicious men because people were on.their.game.

Saturday: Great Falls Park "Hike"
I've been trying for two whole years to go bowling or hiking or SOMETHING with Jenny, and we finally set a date to wander GF Park, gaze at some muddy rapids, and enjoy the textbook-perfect fall weather. We met up at the falls and, in a somewhat hungover state, navigated the treacherous paths together.

I blurred your face to highlight your magical shirt but obvi I still lurve you.
After our walk, I spent the rest of the day catching up on Disney movies I've never seen (I'm looking at you, Fox and Hound), sippin PSLs, sitting in our chairs outside with our slippers, and eating chicken fingers dipped in blue cheese. Mmmm....

Sunday: Ugh. Running.
Woke up. Ran 4 miles-ish. Went to the dog park. Chugged Gatorade. Made some homemade yogurt. Nahx4Nahx4Nahx4.  Begrudgedly began a little tiny teeny bit of packing. Aaanddd the rest is pretty much a blur.

Counting down the days till we dominate das dance floor again. Not counting the days to some other scary deadline. Oh dear...

SW in the Vintage Place...is on....

Tumble On Ovah

So. News of the day...I started a Tumblr. I know, I know. But, I'm becoming obsessed with animated .gifs (talk nerdy to me, right?)! I don't care--I think they're fun and I like the way people can capture little weird moments in movies/film that you may have never noticed. Who knows if I'll keep it going, but it's golden for now. SOCIAL MEDIA OVERLOAD!
Also, I'm hopping back on the crazy shredding train. Yesterday I ran 3 miles, biked 12ish, and got my sweat on with Jillian in da basement. As much as I want to slice her, it seemed as good a day as any to bring my laziness to an end as the Biggest Loser premiere was playing in all its DVR fabulosity. Yes, people, as Rafiki would say--"It is time!" (This is probably a good thing seeing how we've just acquired a brand new slow cooker/cookbook filled with delicious recipes like Chicken in a Pot and Another Chicken in a Pot. Chicken for erryone!!).

Hump Day!?

I Survived...

...yoga, that is. Went to the first class last night--bent and stretched and centered parts of me that I didn't even know existed, but it was actually pretty fun. After tackling the pre-class giggles and locking up my crazies, it wasn't that hard to get focused and stretch out the knots from my ouchie earlier run. I'm thinking that running + yoga + going on a meat break could result in a beautimous friendship.

Meanwhile, I'm over here lusting after golds and greens and counting my breaths till the fabulous weekend!
How does your garden grow?
Serious mosaic tile love.

This bathroom is meh except for the groovy green mirror, meow.

Hope everyone's having a glorious Thursday!

Today's Fortune Cookie: Your Happiness Is Intertwined With Your Outlook On Life.

I haven't been in a blogging mood lately, but it is deathly quiet at work today so I figured I'd take the opportunity to throw in a good list. Here are a few of the things that are making me happy today:
  • Candy Cane Lane Peppermint Tea
  • John Mayer's voice
  • Cool, sunshiney days
  • Potbellies for lunch
  • No one at work (i.e., silence and reading, yess!)
  • My newly decorated cork board!
    .

    .
  • My brand new Anthro journal (on sale for $7.95!!!)
  • DC weekend with my lovers for Amanda's birthday
  • SARA BAREILLES ON MONDAY!!!!
  • Going for a run after work
  • A Wine and Cheese Win Party tomorrow (fingers crossed for bonus check to pay for....
  • ...the camera I just bought that I've been lusting after for years and years!!)
Happy Hump Day!

It Smells So Good, I Can Taste It....

Fall, that is.

For the past three mornings I've walked out to my car, taken a big whiff, and been thrown back down memory lane. It's in the air--it's in the leaves--it's in the musty, deliciousness of the trees that are getting ready to turn orange and maroon.
.

It reminds me of...
new school years
walking down the driveway to catch the bus
drinking Mom's Russian Tea in the morning

cross country season...

the winding down of summer loves...

last-minute trips to the lake...

fuzzy horses...

treks across the Drillfield...

scarves...

layered outfits

budding romances...

lusting for the perfect pair of Frye boots...

Mill Mountain Blend...

tailgates tailgates tailgates...

Block and Bridle pledges...

...and so much more. As much as I loveloveLOVE the summer, there's something about the cool crispness of Virginia falls that really gets your ticker ticking.

It just goes to show that the good ole Old Dominion=truly the best state ever.

Thankyouthankyou for four sweet seasons!
